There are some pieces that feel less like something new and more like something discovered.
Recently welcomed into the Kinga Csilla world, Casa Capri creates jewellery with exactly that feeling. Founded by Romina Crea, the brand draws on vintage treasures, Mediterranean nostalgia, old-world symbols and the beauty of pieces collected over time.
Thoughtful, a little unexpected and full of character, Casa Capri feels naturally at home alongside Kinga Csilla. We caught up with Romina to discover the story behind the brand, where she finds inspiration and why she hopes the pieces she creates today might become the treasures of tomorrow.
Tell us the story of Casa Capri. Where did it all begin?
Casa Capri really started from my love of jewellery and collecting pieces that felt different. Before Casa, I was always hunting through op shops, vintage stores and little markets. I loved finding an amazing pair of earrings or a necklace and wondering who had owned it before me, where it had come from and what its story was.
I’m a mum of three boys, and Casa actually started as a little side hustle. I needed a creative outlet that was just mine and never imagined it would grow into what it has today.
The idea was always to create jewellery with that same feeling as the pieces I used to find. Something unique, a little unexpected and full of character. Pieces you collect over time and almost treat like little good luck charms.
That feeling is still at the heart of Casa today.
The Mediterranean is a beautiful influence throughout Casa Capri. Where does that connection come from for you?
It comes from my background, my family and everything I’ve grown up around. There’s something about Mediterranean life that I’m constantly drawn back to. The colours, the warmth, the food, old houses, tiles, jewellery, superstitions and symbols, and the way things are passed down through generations.
I love that nothing feels too perfect. Things are worn, collected, layered and lived in. That’s very much the world I imagine for Casa.
Where does the idea for a new piece usually begin?
Honestly, anywhere! I’m constantly screenshotting, photographing and saving things.
It could start with a vintage earring I find in an op shop, an old coin, a shape on a building, a tile, something my Mum or Nonna had, a stone, a photograph or even just a feeling I want a piece to have.
I don’t really design by looking at what’s trending. I think that’s why Casa pieces can sometimes feel a little unexpected. I just know when I see something and think, that needs to become jewellery.
How do you choose the materials, stones and symbols you work with?
I’m really drawn to things that have meaning. I love stones and symbols of protection, luck, love, intuition and strength. Things people have carried or worn for generations because they believed they meant something.
But it also has to look beautiful. I love mixing something symbolic with something bold, imperfect or slightly unusual.
I want someone to put on a Casa piece because they love how it looks, but then have this extra connection to what it represents. Their own good luck charm.
Nostalgia feels woven through Casa Capri. What memories or places do you find yourself returning to?
So much of it comes back to family for me.
Old Italian homes, my grandparents, tiles, religious jewellery, old photographs, gold jewellery and charms. Things you’d see sitting on a dresser at your Nonna’s house. Even the way older generations kept things forever. Nothing was disposable. Everything had a story.
I think I’m always trying to recreate a feeling more than a specific era. That feeling of finding something old and beautiful and wondering where it has been before you.
That nostalgia is probably one of the biggest parts of Casa.
What’s next for Casa Capri?
I feel like Casa is only just beginning.
The brand has grown so organically, which I’m really proud of. What started as my little side hustle has grown into something I could never have imagined, with Casa now stocked in stores around Australia like Kinga Csilla. Pinch me! What a dream!
I want to keep building that world, creating pieces that feel unmistakably Casa, exploring more stones, symbols, shapes and materials, and continuing to push the designs into places that feel a little unexpected.
But no matter how much Casa grows, I never want to lose the reason I started it.
I want someone to discover a Casa piece years from now in an op shop or in their mum’s or grandmother’s jewellery box and wonder where it came from and what stories it holds.
That would be pretty special. xxx
